After an insane amount of time without a gallery, I’ve finally got it back up and I’m working on getting all the images back online. I’ve ditched Gallery2 because it’s slow and stupid and uploading images caused a database error. I hate Gallery2!
I’ve switched to Zen Photo and I couldn’t be happier. Even on our admittedly slow server, it runs like a champ, and uploading images is as simple as copying files into the directory. Genious!
Without further adieu, The Gallery!

Much as expected when I started my weight loss crusade, my clothes no longer fit me right. More specifically, Large shirts look a little big on me, I had to add a new notch in my belt and my jeans hang loose and shapeless off my hips. So, instead of looking trim and attractive, I look like I don’t know how to dress myself, which of course, wasn’t my goal. I’m currently 175 pounds, 20 pound lighter than when I started all this, and it’s very noticeable; I still continue to get comments on my size from people I know.
Anyway, I was planning to stave off buying new clothes (specifically jeans) until I got even close to my target weight. Let’s face it, I’ve still got 15 pounds to go, and if 20 pounds caused such a huge change in my figure, another 15 was sure to do the same. Still, it sucks to have lost all this weight and look scrubby as a result, and since I had some clothes to return from Christmas to return to Kohl’s and Old Navy, I figured I would splurge on at least one pair of new jeans. And there in lies the reason for this post.

Once again, it’s been far too long since I’ve posted anything here. In fact, it’s been over 2 months. Needless to say, a lot has happened in those 2 months….. but nothing is here. It’s partly because I don’t sit in front of my computer at home too often anymore and partly because I don’t feel like making long posts to sum things up. But, I think I have a solution.
I’ve been reading posts on lifehacker for a little while now and they seem to be bit fans of a site called twitter over there. Now, I’ve never used the site myself (since I pretty much hate the whole “social networking” scene that popped up), but the idea is simple. Users get on and post about the trivial crap that’s happening in their life.
So I’m going to start posting trivial crap up here…… OK, not really. But, it made me realize that the key is in repetition. So, my plan is to post here at least once a week, possibly twice. I guess we’ll see how well I keep up with it, but that’s the new plan. That way, I don’t have to write up a long post every time I want to write something, but I’ll still get all of the info across. I’ll start this week, possibly Wednesday or Thursday here; we just moved offices at work so I have a couple things I’d like to write about concerning that anyway.
Lastly, after the trip to HOTlanta (more on that in the future), there’s a bunch of new pictures to put online here. I’m working on that too.

Well, this site and nearly all the other sites the my friends owned have been moved over to a new server. The overclocked Celeron I had sitting in my parents’ basement on their cable connection just wasn’t cutting it anymore.
The new server? Dreamhost! I got a shared hosting plan and went in on it with 9 other people. Then I found a $97 off coupon (Google it, you’ll see it) and got 2 years of hosting for about $94! Split that 10 ways and that’s about $10 per person got 2 years of hosting! That includes 200GB of storage (increased by 1GB per week), 2 TB of bandwidth (increased by 16MB per week), unlimited domains, unlimited databases and 75 unique user accounts, above other things. They also have one-click installs of a bunch of software, SVN, phpMyAdmin, free anonymous domain registration and a ton of other things that you can find listed on their site.
Bottom line, if you are looking for a new host, check them out! Their service has been pretty solid (despite some early issues, but I think that was our fault) and their wiki has answered every question we’ve had so far.

I have been seeing some really cool website layouts as of late and I wanted to change mine up and make it a little more appealing. I decided that an olive and odd green color would look nice and eventually I made the entire scheme use a green color of some kind. This is in favor of the black and grey (with blue links) scheme I had before. Ultimately it’s just a modifaction of the default skin that I tweaked in favor of people NOT using 800×600 resolutions. It’s now best viewed at 1024×768 or wider. Continue reading →

I finally got the WPG2 plug-in working and I have to say it’s pretty much exactly what I wanted.
I recently got Gallery2 installed and I imported all my photos into it. Now that I got used it, I’m very happy with it. There really is no wonder why so many people use it to get their photo albums online.
Anyway, to keep this short, if you are looking for a usable way to integrate your blog and your photo gallery, get yourself WordPress, Gallery2 and WPG2!

Well, I’ve tried a good amount of CMS/Blogging engines here, and I have finally settled on WordPress…… for now.
So far, I’ve tried GeekLog, Mambo, LifeType, Loudblog and Drupal.
